Javaplant Office

Situated in a remote open green field in Central Java about one hour car-ride from Solo, the Javaplant complex for a traditional medicine manufacturer. The compound is filled with an office, a showroom, and a laboratory for Javaplant. With the rolling of hazy fields and mountain on the background, the complex’s design blends in with its natural surrounding – using a careful selection of earthy materials, wide gable roof and the natural color palette. To integrate into its context, the complex uses materials that are available around the site. Not only it was a smart financial decision, it was also wiser and contextual when it comes from an architectural standpoint. The whole complex is an attempt to bring vernacular architecture practices and strong local identities to the forefront, and finishing it with a contemporary update.
